Carolyn P. Evans was born and raised in Las Cruces, NM. There she graduated from Mayfield Hight School in 1987 in the top 10% of her class. She then went on to graduate from New Mexico State University in 1992 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She continued another year there to receive a Paramedic Certificate in 1993. After getting married and several years in emergency medicine and as an Operating Technician in northern New Mexico, she moved to Connecticut to attend Physician Assistant School. Carolyn attended Quinnipiac University and graduated in the top of her class in 1999 with a Masters in Health Science – Physician Assistant. Carolyn then accepted a position in El Paso, Texas working as a cardiovascular surgical PA for Southwest Cardiovascular Associates. In 2002, she was recruited to heart team in Las Cruces, New Mexico. There she joined the 5 star team of New Mexico Cardiovascular Associates. As an integral member of this team, she assists in vascular, thoracic, and cardiac surgery and cares for the pre and post-operative patient throughout their stay and follow-up. Carolyn was the first provider in the state of New Mexico to perform endovascular vein harvesting. This is a minimally invasive procedure to remove veins for cardiac bypass surgery. Carolyn is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery.
