Dr. Barnica is the first fellowship trained colon and rectal surgeon in the Las Cruces area. He has a special interest in the prevention and surgical treatment of colon and rectal cancer, applying advanced techniques in minimally invasive surgery. He is honored to join Memorial Medical Center’s surgical team and take part in caring for the Las Cruces community. Dr. Barnica is fluent in English and Spanish. Dr. Barnica obtained his medical degree at Universidad Popular Autonoma del Estado de Puebla, Mexico, then completed his General Surgery training at Mercy Catholic Medical Center and a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at Foxchase Cancer Center/Temple University, both in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He finished his surgical training after completing a subspecialty in Colon and Rectal surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
