Melissa Livingston, DNP, FNP-BC

Doctorate of Nursing Practice - Family Nurse Practitioner

Melissa Livingston grew up in Alamogordo, New Mexico choosing to complete her undergraduate nursing provisions in Las Cruces where she has cared for the diverse health needs of our community within the hospital for more than eleven years. She is honored to continue to serve the comprehensive health demands of our community through the extensive education and clinical proficiency as a doctorate prepared family nurse practitioner obtained from NMSU. Melissa’s commitment to integrative, holistic care across the lifespan centers on prevention precludes problems enhancing knowledge of physical and mental health, nutritional guidance, and inspiring wellness through her enthusiastic, compassionate approach to care. Melissa specializes in obesity medicine with a Certificate of Advanced Education in Obesity Medicine and provides individualized nutritional counseling and therapies for ideal health emphasizing “Wellness is Worth It.”

Melissa Livingston received her doctorate of nursing practice specializing in family nurse practitioner from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she completed clinical and research requirements in care areas of acute care, urgent care, primary care, emergency and intensive care, pediatrics, obstetrics, geriatrics, and administrative leadership.

She has recently earned her Certificate of Advanced Education in Obesity Medicine (ABOM) recognized by the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA), becoming a clinical leader in the field of Obesity Medicine. She has been one of the founding practitioners to develop and maintain the Memorial Wellness Center. 

Candidates must earn a minimum of 60 continuing education (CE) credits through OMA within 36 months of submitting their application. As part of the 60 CE credits, candidates must complete OMA’s review course for the ABOM exam, either at the live conference or online. Melissa is one of the very few in the state of New Mexico achieving this certification.

Desiree D. Martinez Wills, DNP, FNP-BC

Doctorate of Nursing Practice - Family Nurse Practitioner

Desiree, D. Martinez Wills, DNP, FNP-BC, specializes in assisting patients on their wellness journey; holistic preventative care; co-morbidity prevention (heart disease, hypertension; type 2 diabetes; the overall well-being of patients; education about nutritional needs, physical activity and behavior modifications; and management of chronic conditions. 

She graduated from NMSU with her Bachelor's in Nursing and continued her education to receive her Doctorate in Nursing with an emphasis in family medicine.

Justin Boland, PhD

Counseling Psychology

Dr. Justin Boland works with patients to conduct bariatric presurgical evaluations and provides psychological support to patients post-surgery. Dr. Boland assists patients by learning about their previous barriers to success and by teaching them a variety of cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness-based skills and strategies to improve their overall health and well-being. Dr. Boland is proud to be a part of the Memorial Weight Loss Center team.

Dr. Justin Boland received his Ph.D. in Counseling and Educational Psychology from New Mexico State University and completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Phoenix VA Hospital, where he specialized in Primary Care Mental Health Integration and Medical Psychology. ​
