Dr. Shamim obtained his medical degree at Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, India ranked amongst the top medical schools in India, then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He went on to complete two fellowship trainings, one in Cardiovascular Disease and the other in Interventional Cardiology, both at Mid-America Heart Institute at University of Missouri - Kansas City.

Dr. Shariq Shamim is a Board Certified Interventional Cardiologist who was named one of the top cardiologists in America in 2017 by Consumer Research Council of America. He is fellowship trained in Interventional Cardiology and in Cardiovascular Disease. He has a special interest in Chronic Total Occlusion PCI and Limb Salvage Interventions to improve patient’s quality of life. His philosophy is several cardiac issues are preventable and strongly believes in lifestyle and diet interventions to prevent these. Dr. Shamim is proud to be a part of the New Mexico Cardiac Care team and the community of Las Cruces.
